Ram 2500 Site-Ready Workhorse Build
This Ram 2500 came to us with a clear purpose.
It wasn’t about flashy extras or unnecessary add-ons. It wasn’t about overbuilding it for social media. This build was about turning a capable American truck into a proper, site-ready workhorse that hauls heavy gear and earns its keep every single day.
Nothing overdone.
Everything chosen for a reason.
At CTO Industries, that’s exactly how we approach working truck builds.
This Ram 2500 now sits taller, carries weight properly, handles load with confidence and remains comfortable enough for daily driving between jobs. It’s practical, engineered and built for real-world use in Australian conditions.
Here’s how we did it.

The Platform: Ram 2500

Image: This image is a front three quarter view of a Ram 2500 fitted with an Outback Kitters bullbar, Type-X Sport Plus driving lights and heavy duty suspension upgrades by CTO Industries.
The Ram 2500 is already one of the most capable heavy-duty utes on Australian roads. With serious towing capacity, strong chassis construction and factory torque to match, it’s a favourite among tradies, contractors and business owners who need a truck that works as hard as they do.
But factory capability only gets you so far.
Once you start loading:
-
Toolboxes
-
Worksite equipment
-
Trailers
-
Plant gear
-
Recovery equipment
You quickly realise that suspension setup and load management matter more than anything else.
This build focuses on exactly that.
Suspension & Load Control: Built to Carry Weight
3-Inch Lift with FOX Performance Series 2.5 IFP Shocks
At the core of this build is a properly engineered 3-inch lift kit paired with FOX Performance Series 2.5 IFP shocks.

Image: This image is a close up of a Fox Performance Series 2.5 IFP shock absorber and heavy duty front coil installed on a Ram 2500 for load carrying and touring performance.
FOX 2.5 IFP shocks are designed for vehicles that see real work. They provide:
The 3-inch lift improves ground clearance and stance without compromising driveline angles or towing stability. This isn’t a show lift. It’s a functional upgrade that enhances performance both on-road and off.
70mm Heavy-Duty Front Coils + 40mm Raised Rears
To support the lift properly, we installed 70mm heavy-duty front coils combined with 40mm raised rear springs.
The heavier spring rates ensure the vehicle:
-
Maintains ride height under accessory weight
-
Handles bullbar and winch load up front
-
Stays stable when carrying tools and equipment
-
Reduces sag over time
Matching spring rates to the intended use is critical. A truck that constantly carries weight needs different tuning than a weekend tourer.
This Ram was built to work daily.
Raised Airbag Man Airbags
Load control is where many builds fall short.
To ensure this Ram remains level under heavy load, we fitted Raised Airbag Man airbags.
Airbag Man:
https://www.airbagman.com.au/
Airbags provide adjustable rear support, allowing the driver to fine-tune ride height depending on:
-
Trailer weight
-
Payload
-
Equipment load
The benefits include:
-
Reduced rear squat
-
Maintained steering geometry
-
Improved braking performance
-
Better tyre wear
-
Increased driver confidence
This setup keeps the truck balanced and controlled — whether it’s empty or fully loaded.

It’s built for job sites, regional highways and remote travel.
STEDI Type-X Sport Plus 8.5 Driving Lights
Mounted to the bar are STEDI Type-X Sport Plus 8.5 driving lights.
STEDI Lighting:

These lights provide strong forward beam performance for:
-
Early morning site runs
-
Regional driving
-
Rural work environments
Reliable lighting is a safety feature, not just an accessory.
Carbon Scout Pro 15,000lb Winch

We integrated a Carbon Scout Pro 15,000lb winch into the bar.
Carbon Winches:

For a truck that sees both work sites and highway driving, this balance is ideal.
Interior & Touring Setup
A work truck still needs smart integration inside.
GME XRS Connect UHF
We fitted a GME XRS Connect UHF radio system for reliable communication.
GME:
https://www.gme.net.au/
Communication is essential for:
-
Job site coordination
-
Convoy travel
-
Remote area work
Bonnet Aerial Mount + RJ45 Passthrough
The bonnet aerial mount keeps the antenna secure and optimally positioned, while the RJ45 passthrough ensures clean cable routing into the cabin.
No messy wiring. No compromises.
Anderson Plug for Auxiliary Power
An Anderson plug was installed to allow auxiliary power supply for:
-
Trailers
-
Fridge setups
-
Work equipment
Practical, simple and necessary.
A Properly Set Up Ram 2500
This Ram 2500 isn’t built for car shows.
It’s built for:
-
Heavy daily work
-
Towing equipment
-
Job site reliability
-
Regional driving
-
Long-term durability
Every component was chosen for a reason.
The suspension handles load.
The airbags maintain balance.
The bullbar protects.
The winch recovers.
The wheels carry weight.
The tyres grip.
The communications keep it connected.
There’s no fluff in this build.
Just purpose.
